Education Master of Counselling, City University -Present
Iva Lang is a Practicum Intern Therapist in the Stony Plain and West Edmonton locations.
Iva is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling degree from Yorkville University and is a practicum intern therapist at Schaffer Psychology till June 2026.
Since Iva can remember, Iva has always been someone who loved helping others. Iva’s path into the counselling field has been shaped by over ten years of frontline experience supporting children, youth, adults and families across a wide range of settings. Iva has experience working with individuals with diverse disabilities and communication needs.
Iva has worked extensively with children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse and other forms of complex trauma. Iva has gained profound insight into trauma-informed care, emotional regulation support, crisis intervention and the importance of building safe, consistent relationships with youth as well as their families navigating overwhelming life experiences.
Each of these experiences taught me how deeply personal an individuals journey is. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. Our experiences, identities as well as histories shape how we make sense of the world and Iva believes our therapeutic work should honour that uniqueness.
At the core of my approach is presence. It’s important to me to build a therapeutic environment centered on empathy and respect. My intention is to support clients in reconnecting with their inner resources, to create meaningful change as well as getting clients aligned with their authentic selves.
